E.gress travels to Cork
Cork is the next stop on the E.gress exhibition tour,
on Thursday 11 February 2016
The film will be showing all day, from 9.30am until 6.30pm
A massive ‘pop-up’ mobile cinema will be the venue screening the film, and will be parked at Cork’s Alzheimer Society of Ireland daycare premises, in their front car park.
You can’t miss it – the mobile cinema is a massive 100 seater, 36 tonne artic, and I’m really excited to be able to show the artwork in this exciting venue.
Everyone is welcome to this free event, and no booking is necessary, you can just call by between the opening times above. The film is 10 minutes long and will be shown on a loop. I’ll be there for most of the day to say hello to people.
Following the film being shown throughout the day in the massive mobile cinema, there’ll be a special event with live music, guest speakers and discussion taking place in the ASI boardroom at 6.30pm.
I’m delighted that two special guest speakers will join myself and Jon Hincliffe the ASI Southern Region Operation’s Co-ordinator, to discuss the artwork and collaborative from two distinct perspectives. Ann Davoren, director of West Cork Arts Centre will respond to the artwork, highlighting aspects she finds particularly compelling from an aesthetic viewpoint, and Jo Calnan from the Alzheimer Society of Ireland will share details about our collaboration from the perspective of her key involvement with family, participants and other ASI staff.
It’s also great that Musician Kevin O’Shanahan will be presenting a live music response to the work, with members of the Happiness Ensemble. This will be a series of short improvised pieces responding to the artwork and the written articles in the accompanying exhibition catalogue.
Everyone is welcome. There’s free entry to the event and all day screening and no booking is necessary. Light refreshments will be served.
